nuclear mushroom head
Jul. 26th, 2008 01:08 pmIt's about time to wake up. Thank you Tiffany for your honesty. I know that you're not one who would allow me to go down in a spiral. So maybe this is what Glenn Lim meant by a wake-up call. It's funny to note how exasperated I became at his longwindedness while editing the interview transcripts yet, echo his sentiments now like an obsequious twerp. I can't afford not to, really. It is 7 weeks to promos and still, I am gallivanting around without a care in the world. Have I lost my drive? Have I lost my ambition? Whatever happened to the dream of Waseda University? I can't back down and admit defeat without even fighting hard for it. I don't want to look back on my life and remember that this was the place where I fell down and which left me a cripple to hobble pathetically in crutches as the rest sprinted past, wind in hair, cheeks with red and eye aglow with triumph. BCDUU- well, that's a sorry state of affairs. It shows how much I have fallen. Granted, I was never top-student material but, failing 2 subjects (horribly at that) is unacceptable. This is my life, my future, my hope of owning a loft in a bustling English city decorated with quaint ornaments and rich teak bookshelves, at stake here. I can't be a disappointment anymore. This ends here.
Well, I can't be bothered to write down what I feel about 夏天的尾巴. I like it well enough. The music, the cinematography, the characters, the themes- they were unoriginal, but solidly executed. It's a good movie to watch on a hot summer's day, when time drapes over chocolate like caramel.
Next up: what happened this week. Monday to Friday was packed a-chockful with events. Monday was buy-groceries-for-Wednesday. It was extremely fun to shop with Melinda and Dilys. We first went to Sheng Shiong to buy the foodstuff. I can't remember what we laughed about (probably Dilys' stupidity and Melinda's craziness) but dang was it funny. Master Butchery / Come, take a look and see / Neat rows of piggies / Master Butchery~ - the jingle that I composed that freaked out both of them HAHA. Then, our quest to find Cold Storage. That took a long time haha. After which, we spent about an hour scooting around the aisles on trolleys, ruminating about cheese, complaining about being a Fat S and Fat T, being possessed by bargain-hunting cheapskate aunties, singing "Unsingaporean", stalking Dilys and Melinda and so on. It was hella fun but, hella inefficent as well. No surprises there haha. Dilys' parents gave me a lift later and HAHAHA boy are they funny. About the eavesdropping part, especially when Dilys got so mock-frustrated with them haha. The Chia family is win, really.
Tuesday was more PW stuff. Had soccer meeting before that though. And more composing of jingles ie, potayto, potahto, and then we go, we love bio. Yeah I know, my rhyming is brills. Soccer- hurray for more trainings. Then it was off to bake brownies and fry sausages at Melinda's house. Yeah. :)
Wednesday was the 4-on-4 basketball thinggum day. For that, I must really thank Leena for helping me ask around for people. I had a great time that day. Got to know Eunice Yeap, who is hilarious to talk to. Chemistry is like that, I guess. You meet someone one day and the topics of conversation are endless. Then you meet another and you clam up instantly, stifle your enthusiasm. It's interesting. My team-mates were Mylene, Eunice, Yi Le and Eugene, a basketballer ("he's starting five", he said and we all cheered haha) whom Yi Le pulled in after the first game. I miss ball games, especially those that involve the use of hands. It was wonderful to run about, blocking off people, going for every ball, being rough and aggressive and idunno, playing with all that you've got. We won one, lost three, but hey, we had two close games. Yi Le and Eugene were really pro and cool. I wish I could be as good as them too. The only thing that I did was probably to injure the opponents by smacking them, left, right, everywhere haha. The touch ruggers came to watch at about 6 and they started to play as well. Confusing Dilys was a fun affair hahaha. Played some more then it was home, not before mistaking Leena's bag as my own HAHA. It was great day. :)
Oh, before the 4-on-4, there was House Session as well. It was definitely better than the first one. We played captain's ball towards the end and did I mention that I missed ball games? We (S11 girls) absorbed Charis and boy, is she hilarious. I like her hearty laughter heh. S11 seniors were somewhat crazy as well haha, with two guys gaying it up on the chair. Then there was Cinderella nearby too, what's there not to like about House Session? x) Oh right, the mass mugging session that commenced after the House Session. Mrs Kong sprang a nasty surprise on us and demanded all practical reports to be submitted before 5pm. Then there were some (like me) who had Biology practical report to complete as well. It was funny to see most of 08S11 seated heads down, back bent and hands furiously flying across paper, between weatherworn brown benches and bags thrown messily askrew. Cool. But I wouldn't want to try that again anytime soon. x_x
Thursday was chiong-eom day. Ah yes, the day where I stayed up till 4am, doing nothing fulfilling in particular. Just plain crapping with my siblings and random surfing of the net. There was badminton in the afternoon. Okay, Mylene and I didn't too well but it was all in good fun. We all turned against the referee haha. Then we rushed off for guitar concert with Melinda (who's the vice-president of Drama, mind you) but we missed half of it in the end. Waited a long time for the performers to be released. Cheryl and Dilys are too cute, seriously. HAHA. Then dinner at KFC and cab-taking, which was really really funny. We were wandering from taxi-stand to taxi-stand, lost and disorientated haha. There was a point in time where we spent 10 minutes being stranded on a road divider HAHA. The cabride was then my solo mini-concert, thank you very much. Dilys and Cheryl for being my number one (unwilling) fans HAHA. Can't touch this / ding ding ding ding ding ding complete with the hip jivey movements yo, sodagreen and more singing heehee. Mucha mucha lovin. :D
Then Friday was the most tiring day as usual. But we all managed to survive it somehow. Went off for soccer farewell for seniors. Spent the first hour furiously writing and decorating my messages, which were 10 times prettier than Leena's haha. The seniors came at about 6, as did the pizzas, so we gorged ourselves full. Someone was in Orientation mode and started the I Never game. Huang Zi has many things lurking underneath her sleepy-eyes facade, yuh. :D Then came the dunking session, cowabunga babeh! Down went Emily, as did Tiffany. I only gave her a little push but who knew that she would teeter about and fall in herself HAHAHA. One by one, we all got pushed into the water. There were some who hid in the washroom (coughMYLENEYITONGJINGMINVIVIcough) but locked doors were not sufficent obstacles to us. Mylene had the greatest shock when she saw me standing on the bench looking at her HAHA. You see, she was about to climb over to the next cubicle HAHAHA. Never underestimate my ingenuity. :D Some bright spark of a person decided to pick the locks and thus, down went Yi Tong. And since you have 20 girls in an enclosed area, photo-taking is a must-do activity. So picspam-picspam till the seniors had to leave. Next up, polo in pool, synchronised swimming, water ballet and basically, behaving like idiots who had never been in a pool before. The climax: huddling in a circle playing I Never. It was giggledyfun, you know, generic stuff. Yi Tong sneezed in the middle of the game and the swift way in which everyone dispersed and moved away was funnnnayyyeeeeee hahaha. We decided to get out of the pool at about 9 and proceeded to dry off. More photo-taking commenced and soon enough, it was time to go. And that was when I had my wake-up call. It's pretty cool to see everything come full-circle huh. The knowledge that things can't continue like this week. The culmination of small everyday events to bring about a conclusion. It seems as if everything has a purpose. No, I'm not going all phony and mystical now. It's just an interesting relationship to observe.
Yup, so that's about it. It has been a great week but it's time to settle down and study. I don't want to be the total opposite of Cinderella. Enough with bad results. As Camera Obscura puts it: "underachievers, please try harder." And you betcha, I can if I want. (ihope) To leave on a nice note, here's a wistful pretty song that I have been addicted to for the past few days: 小小的我 by Enno
