lonely day
Aug. 28th, 2010 02:51 amAnd so, it is Friday yet again. Quite surprisingly, today is the end of Week 3. I have been taking things slow and easy for the past fortnight, and it feels pretty damn nice to blank out on a bus that brings you to areas that were once so familiar to you, with the raindrops dancing down the window-panes. I reverted to my hermit-like ways for a couple of days last week, racing through a fluffy adorable Korean drama (Personal Taste) and skipping a lecture for the first time in the process. Sorry esteemed professor, but Lee Minho's smile+dimples combo demands to be appreciated. Finished up another Korean drama (Prosecutor Princess) this week, and that was really worth the 16 hours of dedicated watching! The plot was solid, the characters were full and flawed, and the interactions between the two leads (In Woo and Hye Ri) were so adorable that my toes kept curling up in squiggles of delight. Ok, weird analogy, but yeah. Along the way, I caught up with Hotaru no Hikari 2, the MatsuJun drama with the unwieldy name, JOKER and My Girlfriend is a Gumiho as well. This is the reason why, despite just fifteen hours of school per week, I still manage to lag behind on all my readings. I am a cool leopard like that. Hahahaha, so screweddd.
Anyway, since the days had already passed, time for a recap of what I did! Last Monday: first NM lecture, where my best partner in the crime of not doing readings was late for twenty minutes haha. Then, off to Coronation to print out HY notes and heading home to study after that. That was a day I was proud of. :) Last Tuesday: HY lecture, then Muay Thai with Sheryl and Jonathan! Learnt the basic stance, movements, jabs and crosses, all the while talking crap and laughing crazily with Sheryl. Found a new jiejie in J, who picks up guys at a phenomenal speed HAHAHA. Must be a skill our "mommy" Wei Jie passed on to him haha. Went for dinner with S, J, WJ, Cheryl, Norman and Alvin at Ramen-Ten after the session, where time was spent mostly on stirring shit, both literally and metaphorically hahaha. It was really fun, learning new things and getting to know new people. Last Wednesday and Thursday: curled up in bed with my MacBookie, watching theatrics and hysterics, bingeing and bingeing, being lazy and unproductive and feeling wonderfully guiltless from it haha. Last Friday: PS lecture, printing notes with Simjoo and her friend Hazel, then Movie Night at Pantages! Last Saturday: Korean MV dance class with S and how we were betting that the other wouldn't go through with the class haha. Plenty of hair-flipping and wannabe-waves, and boy, it was fun, just looking bad and trying our best haha. Then, meeting up with Xunlong and Mark, then Amanda and Xinling at Somerset. I fail at organising things arghhh.
And here, I break into a new paragraph, because a whole chunk of text look ooglayyy haha. Monday: NM lecture, JS tutorial where my heart soared and eyes dilated when TRUDY CHUA HUI HUI walked through the door!!$#&$^ AKIRA SHOCK! Haha was not expecting anybody I knew in the class, so having TCHH, as well as Elaine, a fellow njc-ian, was a pleasant surprise. Then, off to Coronation again, to print GEK and PS notes and celebrate HUBAE's birthday! Went through barrels of laughter with Hubae, Dilys, Qiao Wei and Melinda, who came for dinner, at Sogurt and Serene Centre. Missed their (retarded) company to bits. Tuesday: HY lecture, then Muay Thai with S and J. Witnessed jie's speed at picking up guys again- within five seconds! HAHAHA. Waited an unreasonable amount of time for the bus, and then, a hurried dinner at Subway. Wednesday: GEK1046 lecture, 2 hours in the library with an hour spent on napping haha, a loooong lunch with Shiyun and her fierce aversion to stairs HAHA, MAC1101 with S, semi-dinner with her and going through kpop videos and doing horrible lip-syncing and talkingtalking. Then, off to Vivocity, and ran into TCHH!!! at Kent Ridge Terminal. Took the bus there together and we tried very hard to suppress coughing at the couple in front of us hahaha. Then, dinner with Pantages, where Hui Jia decided to be Barbarella for a day haha. Thursday: JS lecture, 1.5 hours of dedicated studying with Jin Hui and then, IFG netball trials. Man, I forgot how fun the game was. WE DARE. FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME. nostalgianostalgia. Then, home early and I managed to complete two readings, wahoo! Finally, Friday: HY tutorial with M, right at the very front, and being stressed out about finding things that were interesting haha, PS lecture, IFG soccer trials, dinner with new friends, then here and now!
Two weeks, just like that. Nowadays, facebook is flooded with status updates of having last nights in Singapore and how beautiful the weather is in a land three thousand miles away. I cannot say that I am not envious. Oh, I am, more than I would ever like to admit. New country, new university, new friends... a new life! It is times like these when the sharp contrasts between what could have been and what actually is, between here and there, between them and me cut straight to the bone. But status quo is alright; it is good actually. I have more than enough to be happy about. This is my path, and one day, it will lead me to where the rest of the world spreads out, fan-like and panoramic, before my eyes that hungers to memorise everything, because they have waited too long.

Date: 2010-08-29 05:54 pm (UTC)But if you ever came to the states/Philly I would love to be your friend. We seem to have so many common interests and a kind of dreamer way of looking at life.
I'll probably check out those Korean dramas now..
peace
