splishy splashy
Sep. 10th, 2011 01:00 amIt is scary to see how days skip away with barely a ripple, like pebbles skimming on the surface of lakes. Plop, plop, and down it sinks, swallowed by the placid stillness. It occurs to me that I speak too much in metaphors. Probably because it is much easier to hide under. Or I'm just dressy like that, cue finger-snap, ouh burn! I do not know why I just typed that.. Week 5 has just ended, and oh me, oh my, I have barely begun on assignments. But there is still time. Hopefully. These are the best days; these are the days that I want to remember while splayed supine on the couch, counting the number of cow-like clouds. My heart has wandered down its own path, and I haven't got the guts to face up to it. We will leave it to time once again! The only solution for everything.
I have been spending too much time online and chatting to people. But those conversations never fail to perk me up or cause me to smile creepily at the monitor. Monday, 5th September, was waking up at a leisurely time, bumming around and doing a reading at relaxed pace. Ventured onto facebook, and struck up conversations with my favourite online friend/fangirl and ku-xiong. Such fun, catching up and crapping. Skipped 2101 and went for soccer after. Finally saw Choobug, after she was missing in action for a week hahaha. Reached home early, because it was a short training. Talked to TC, and time and again, all the relationship advice I could give came from kdramas. Oh well, all people really desire is a listening ear right? More than happy to volunteer my services for that. Tuesday was 2101 tutorial, a lonesome two hour break, 3101 lecture, rushing home to nap for 1.5 hours before rushing back to school for the game against SMU. 2-1, whoo! Witnessed Choobug's 见车忘友 pattern in action again HAHA. And Lim-xiong's after-saying-goodbye encouraging text messages HAHAHHAA. Wednesday was 2212 lecture, 3101 tutorial, meeting up with Sherryeo and Jia, and muay thai. Forgot how tiring and heart-pumping training was. Thursday was the long-awaited Four Lions with Chiou Tian. Missed her so much. Four Lions was hilarious, yet heart-breaking at the same time. The marginalization of a ethnic group that has been naturalized as part of everyday life; the media portrayals and how it has conditioned audience's reactions, as well as the actions of the actors; the anger and injustice that stems from being outside and looking in (there, but not quite. here, but not really. Nike sneakers and freestyle rapping while decrying the consumerist society.) Half-remembered theories and perspectives from Deviance and Popular Culture floated around uneasily in my mind. Was it reactionist? Constructionist? Argh, I had better pay more attention while reading. Either way, it was a good movie that turned certain mundane praxis on its head. And it was hella funny to boot!
Did a bit reading after, and went for training. Keeping drills are quite fun. Ah, I've gotta cut my reaction time though. Pulled out my kdrama lines for more advisin' after that. I like to think that people find me an empathetic person, or that I am a good listener. Or maybe, I just look like an aunty named Agony. Yeah, it is the forehead wrinkles, most probably. And today! 2210 lecture, 1201 lecture, and reading, followed by Korean BBQ buffet. WAHOOOO. It is heaven to roll rice and meat in lettuce, stuff the whole thing in your mouth, and feel the juiciness, tenderness, crunchiness, spilling forth. HAHA I feel so happy recounting dinner-time. Kimchi fried rice was pretty decent too. Followed by a chocolate-banana crepe at Keen on Crepes. BWAHA. And then, a confusing tale on the way home. Why are some people compelled to create drama and deception? You would think people would leave it all behind, but no, the rumour mills never stop churning. Ah well, we will just paddle our sampan away, coconut husks, orchid garlands and all. Life is too complicated otherwise.
These days seem like a blast from the past, a return to the days of single-minded ambition and determination. Burning focus, silent discipline, camaraderie, teamwork. Nothing quite beats deflating another's self-esteem, only to have it to rebound unaffected the next moment. Or gushing/despairing over the presence/absence of a canned drink. Or sexcited peacocks of a feather flocking together. Hahaha. It is familiar; it is safe. And sometimes, that is what we need to structure our formless days.
