methrowrock: (My Neighbour Totoro)

Yes, it is 6am in the morning. Once again, I am sitting in bed, swathed in pillows, with trusty laptop on uhh, my lap. Yeah, this is the life I am more used to leading. So, it has been two days since the end of promos now. It came and ended too quickly, perhaps. Kinda makes me regret not putting in more effort. But since it's over and done with, heck it and pray for good moods to descend upon the markers while chillax-ing like crazy. There are so many things to do that I have a problem deciding where to start ahaha. Oh, the mindtwisting conundrum!- which crappy tw drama should I start on first? Grave matters that require deep though indeed. But first, a recap of Thursday and Friday.

So Bio was the last paper. It sucked shit, to say the least. I'm going to fail it, for reals. Damn the memory bank which went on strike at last minute. Everything was a disaster, from the MCQs to structured and essay. Thankfully, the day only got better. KFC with Melinda, Audrey and Dilys was ultimate funniness. Then, Wall-E, which I loved.

I don't understand how some people can snort at Wall-E dismissively, solely based on hearing that it is a love story between robots. And that it involves no, if little, dialogue. But that amplifies the meaning behind the sweet gestures of Wall-E I think. Ten minutes into the movie and my heart was sold to dear dear darling lonely Wall-E. Roaming around Earth cheerily as dust storms swallows the landscape, rummaging through forgotten wastelands and finding treasures in items that you and I bandy about carelessly everyday, then categorising each object carefully and making space on the racks, like well-won, love-tinged trophies. Cranking up the technicolour movie, imitating the dance-steps, as he crunches miles in his blistered tracks with his only companion being the outwitter, outlaster, outplayer cockroach. ARGHHH, how can anyone not love him? Then, the appearance of Eve. Hilarity ensues, followed by the 'awwww's brought on by Wall-E's determination and sincerity. What happens next is a madcap adventure, filled with blistering animation, LOL moments and inspirational speeches. What's there not to love? I have always liked Pixar movies. Their animations often have strong plots that are touching. The messages being transmitted here are universal: how one must live and not merely survive, the consequences of not saving and preserving the environment which had been lovingly left in our care, how one's life is never truly fulfilled unless one has someone else to fulfil it with, the importance of human-to-human, face-to-face interaction in this increasingly digitalised world. Oh it sounds like a GP essay already. But yeah, they dealt with it niftily. It really tugged at my heartstrings. And it sucked you in entirely. You wanted to know four, more, more, more and you crossed your fingers for Eve and Wall-E. There were so many adorable characters as well, like the anal Kumo, the faaaaaat captain, the crazyass machines in the repair room. And it was damn funny too. Kept laughing at the part where the faaaaat humans were wriggling on the floor on their faaaat stomachs and also when they were struggling with walking with their faaaaat pudgy feet. Ok, so my sense of humour is amateur, but, I had a great time with Wall-E. It's really good so do catch it.

The MRT ride home was damn funny too. Audrey and Melinda kept jumping on the train to try their far-out theory while Cheryl and I had a nice chat (or mostly, bickering) about movies and idunnowhatelse. She watched The Wind That Shakes The Barley. I'm moving her way up in the Cool Quotient now ahaha.

Went out today as well, this time with the addition of Mylene and Yuhui. Only Grace was missing heh. Shopping at Bugis was an interesting affair. Never knew that there were so many nice stuff there. Think: Big Bang-esque hoodies, but cheaper and for females! Haha. The rest shopped to their hearts' content, judging from their plastic bags, empty wallets and huge smiles. We later had dinner at Subway in Suntec and also, a long, loud and laughter-filled conversation. Key topics involved Audrey's amazing self-taking abilities, depression after promos and the allocation of fruits, fairy tales, sweat glands, hair-types and ecetera to people to their subsequent outbursts of disgust. HAHA. Headed upstairs to see F1, while arguing with Cheryl again, running away from Dilys who KEPT DIGGING HER EARS HAHA, and getting sidetracked by window-shopping. It was too early though so we headed home instead. The train ride was fun as well. 6 S11 girls=6000 decibels of noise generated, I reckon. But we mean no harm. :)

Yes, literally shows and Show (Luo) time. In two days, I have watched two episodes of 篮球火, one of Gossip Girl and three of 命中注定爱上你. And being the longwinded hag that I am, I must simply gush over each one.

篮球火, simply put, is a STUPID show, but that is precisely the fun of it. The story gets more and more ludicrous with each episode. Having someone die fifteen minutes into the pilot wasn't enough, there had to be a hot model, who totters around basketball courts in high heels and extremely short shorts, with severe asthma and probably a life-threatening disease later-on. Also, there was the token family secret (!! thunder rumbles here) embroiling two buddies in an age-old grudge. There is also, not one, but TWO incredibly incredulous blockades caused by a black-clad gang who wanted to kidnap Dong Fang Xiang which involved TWO guns, TWO close saves (shaves) by mysterious leather-donning stalkers (more about that soon), a showdown between two men (DFX and Da Ying) and a whole crowd of fierce gangstas wielding metal poles which ultimately culminated in a COMA, followed by a glimpse of HEAVEN, and a lifelong PROMISE which resulted in a blossoming BROTHERHOOD. HAHAHAHAHHAAAA. If there is not enough, the two fancy schmancy stalkers (Wu Zun and sidekick) who 吃饱没事做 (it sounds better in Hokkien) and follow DFX EVERYWHERE, snapping pictures of his mad skillz, then playing out his moves later and also saving them from tight spots. That is not all, can you berrrieve it? There's also crazy-cool street basketball moves, tricky dribbling and snazzy special effects thrown into the mix. Which, all in all, makes for a perfect reason to waste an hour. HAHA. I'm such a fan, eh. Watching Jerry Yan makes me want to rewatch Meteor Garden all over again. MG=BEST TW IDOL DRAMA EVER! My heart still melts at the sight of DFX's spiky hair. Maybe that's where it all started. :D

Gossip Girl S02E04 was the bomb man. There were many plot twists, yet again. GG's a wonderful guilty pleasure. It is shallow, superficial and it ain't apologetic about what it truly is. The lead quartet is diabetes-inducing eye candy, the clothes are well-knitted, the set and landscapes are pure luxury, it is the life that everyone wants to lead: the scandals, the high-profile activities, the fretting over love and relationships minus the reality checks of schoolwork, bread and butter issues and maybe-he's-not-that-into-yous. I love CHUCK and how he is always ahead of the curve. And the lengths he would go to inject some drama for his ultimate masterplan. And also, how everyone thinks the worst of him and how, he often acts like he is devil's incarnate but really have truer, purer motivations. Blair was great as well. Her evil queen bee schtick- so self-assured, so self-centred, so self-reliant,- was priceless. I WANT MOAR. Can't wait to see how Serena's transformation is going to unnerve her.

And lastly, 命中注定爱上你爱上你. What can I say? It is another Taiwanese romantic comedy, starring an ordinary girl who coincidentally runs into a rich, hot-tempered, childish but ultimately sweet and loving guy. Sparks fly and their ensuing engagements makes it a full-blown forest fire. Every girl dreams of being a Cinderella. (ahem. :D) Who wouldn't want to be swept away by a prince charming, who cherishes and cuddles one on a cold, cheek-roasting night? But such perfect guys, sadly, are figments of imagination. The most that one could do is to seek refuge in such idol dramas, where romanticism is dished out liberally and cheesy, heart-aflutter lines are aplenty. And seeing that I'm a hardcore daydreaming escapist, all I can do is to dream that Ji Chun Qi would pull a Sadako and become my one and only hahaha. Yucks, how mushy, I just grossed myself out ahaha.

Whoah, that was surprisingly long. I am a naggy loud-hailer ah soh at heart, shh. The sun is out now. Off to watch more 命中注定爱上你. It is funny how studying makes one sleepy prematurely while slacking delays the lethargy eh. Ok, maybe it is only me. Ciao, anyways.
