Tokyo! is a collage of three film shorts by three hotshot directors: Michel Gondry, Leos Carax, Bong Joon-Ho. To put it succinctly, I loved Interior Design, liked Shaking Tokyo and disliked Merde. ID was another charming, surrealistic piece by Gondry and it was an amusing take on a person's innate desire to be needed. ST was a sweet and simple love story. Merde was probably some musing on terrorism, with references to Japan's military past, but I really couldn't bother enough to think about it. Found it too self-indulgent. But I didn't understand it much, so maybe that's why I didn't like it haha. Oh well. It was an enjoyable show though. A good choice for a present indeed. :D


Yes, this entry is highly disjointed. But I am tired, tired of trying so hard, tired of asking and badgering, tired of being clueless. From now on, I'm going to let things slide and focus on the important things that I had neglected. (read: bcme!) Maybe I should do a Dwayne Hoover. And right, work, work, work!

ST is not simply a sweet and simple love story! it's so much more than that :(

hmm well, it was to me. ok, maybe it was a statement about how human beings shrink away from others and isolate themselves with the advent of technology and compartmentalized citylife also, but i found it a linear love story, ie, boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, boy overcomes obstacles/fear to meet girl. hehe maybe i missed seeing something..
