2009 is well and truly over now. It has been.. quite a year. There was always something to be done, and for most of the time, they were not done until the very last moment, which resulted in more than a few close shaves and heart attacks. It sure made life then more exciting, until I realised (too late) that these mistakes may result in a tepid existence in the future, but oh well, that will be for me to decide. :)

Last year was my worst ever, academics-wise. Whatever the test, whatever the assignment, I failed it- quite badly, even. It is not something to be proud of; instead, it is something to regret and pummel oneself over, yet I brushed it away with careless and unfounded swagger. During Common Tests, Prelims and even, the As, I didn't bother to exert my greatest effort in studying, which resulted (and will result in) in utterly atrocious grades. Strangely, I don't regret all the lazing around and slacking that I had done. Maybe baby, I have acquainted myself with the thought of faring terribly and perfected the art of lowering one's expections as a reflex mechanism. It'sokayit'sokay; as long as I get a university education somewhere, anywhere, it's okay. My future is mine to create, riiiight? OKAY! Haha time to move on from this very disagreeable topic >.<

The first half of the year was very enjoyable. Although I was probably tied down with too many commitments, there was something satisfying in rushing here and dashing there. Juggling soccer, council, schoolwork and sometimes-basketball was crazystuff and way-outta-my-league, but thanks to that, I experienced so much more. #1 lesson of the year: say "yes" more. 40th deco comm? Sign me up. NTUMUN? That sounds interesting. Gym training on weekends? See ya there. ;) April Fool's? Okay, let's make it fun. (It wasn't.) It was a tired-happy period. Even though it has been many months, I still remember the few weeks when we had training everyday clearly. PTs on Tuesday and Thursday, field on other days, Novena trainings on weekends, or something like that. I loved that we all had a single objective; our goal was well-defined and concrete. We lived for a dream. Rah-rah-passion and wahoo-desire, I miss having those in my life.

The second half of the year was enjoyable in a different aspect. It was tough, it was hard, but thanks to 08S11, things were made that much better. The days went past in a blur of worry, depression and resignation. Can't bother to elaborate much more now haha. Bottomline: I really treasure my S11 friends, toowhoots! Soccer girls, of course, and for council, you know who you guys are. :)

And over the course of the entire year, hopeless pining&whining and ruminating and reading too much into things. Happy coincidences resulted in mindless delirium; silence and neglect led to blue funks; oh it was a single-seat rollercoaster ride that seems very laughable now. Still, some good things have come out of it. Lesson #2 of the year: take the first step.

If 2006 was the year of the English indie, 2007 the year of the films, 2008 the year of the Chinese indie, 2009 would be the year of K-Pop. I have been crazy over pretty Korean boys since end 2006, but my affection was limited to a few boybands. This year, though, I started updating myself daily with kpop news. Worshipping Allkpop, jumping ship to OmonaTheyDidnt and doing the necessary conversion to loath Allkpop for their lewd and sensationalised narration haha, lurking on Soompi, registering at forums here there everywhere, you get the drift. 2PM and the cast of 1N2D never failed to make my day everyday. Then of course, there was all the shit that happened, but it is okay, 2010 will be a better year, fo sho! I wonder what year 2010 will be.. Hmm..

Okay, too lazy to think anymore. Time to sleep or play Sims haha. Tataaa.
