whatever makes you happy
Apr. 17th, 2011 06:11 amAfter two excruciating weeks, Parks and Recreation was finally back in my life. And just about squeezed my heart dry of rainbows, saccharine smiles and sparkly things that happiness is made of. It is hard to find a show that is so overwhelmingly earnest and heartwarming. As I read in a review elsewhere, what sets Parks apart is the multitude of nice characters on the show. Absent are snarky quips and cynical snubs, which readily pervade other sitcoms and seem to be a sure-fire formula for generating self-conscious laughs. The characters aren't firing off backhanded insults at a rattling speed; instead, the slow-boil of the interactions accentuates the essence of friendships, relationships and other ships. Every episode allows us a longer glimpse of a certain character's quirks, habits and philosophies. The best part is that the characters learn from past experiences and evolve, instead of getting stuck in a stereotyping rut. Except for Jerry, but well, he asks for it most of the time. Haha. Basically, Parks is a show that shoots sunshine out its ass (hehe Juno) and plasters a unbearably huge grin on my face every single time. So hurray for that. Got to get back to settling SEP stuff, and oh, finals. Right. Bummer.
