hand-in-hand as the world expands

One of my favourite feelings is to be sitting in a bus while it is raining. The initial hesitant free-fall, the incessant pitter-patter, the rampant rat-a-tat-tat: your personal orchestra right there and then. And then, there is the latticework of rain-streaks on windows that smoothens out the edges of the concrete scenery. There is a delight in knowing that you are sitting there, toasty and unaffected in a capsule of warmth, and passing by the world lashed by surly rain and gusty winds. The tenuous demarcation between the controlled and uncontrollable (the here-versus-there) makes all the difference. It is also nice re-discovering the human subservience to nature. Despite the technological advances, cloud computing and whatnot, we are still at the mercy of those pregnant rainclouds. Waiting at the fringes of shelters, rancid frowns on faces, girlish squeals as school-kids race across the road (green light, of course) in soaked canvas shoes, yeah we are there and doing that every single time. And we are all trying to get home, bobbing from one diaphanous bubble to another.

And upon getting home, I have done zilch today. Am I surprised? Well, no. Banking on the wee hours of the morning once again. I sorta did the film analysis for the presentation last night, so all I have left are 2101 essay, 3101 essay, and 2212 essay. Hahaha, what have I gotten myself into? But I still have time. Hopefully. If I don't get sleep, forgot that caveat. The past week has been nice though, especially since I managed to catch up with readings for two modules. Things are finally making sense, which is a phenomenal feeling that gets banished all too quickly. Monday 17th October: going to school earlier to do some readings, 2101 lecture, training. Ah, Beep test. Stamina will never cease to be a problem huh. Tuesday: 8 hours of school day, followed by studying with daxiaopao. Wednesday: 2212 lecture, meeting Choobug for lunch at the usual area in Deck, with Nocthan's Eternal Lover joining us later. It was fun... and productive! Sure, there were the usual big laughs about everything and nothing, but we did get some work done. SIM friendly was rained out, so circuits and muddy training it was. Thursday: managed to haul myself out of the house and met N.E.L and Choobug at The Mystical Studying Place at Chinese Library haha. Productive day, once again. \o/ Dinner at Macs, and after that, excursion to LT6, packaged along with modelling poses and the meaning behind ATBR, HAHA. Friday: overslept for 2210 lecture haha. The rain set fire to my alarm clock, what could one possibly do? lol!(bad)pun. 1201 lecture, going for Chan-xiong's experiment which engendered gaping mouths and flummoxed expressions. Then, 2D1N Korean BBQ Buffet with Pingeon and smartaLeck, HO YEAH! Hahaha. An hour and a half of people-watching (wedgie dress HAHA) and tv-talking and self-amusement (cocking our heads sideways to watch television in the restaurant) and practising of reflexes (sustained record of reaching the Korean staff within three seconds whenever they appeared) and bonding over shared interests (netballerzz). Following that, an hour and a half of eating and refilling of rice drinks and restocking of meat on grilling pan and stuffing lettuce wraps into mouths. Oh, it was heaven, especially when one was ~prepared~ with an inventory of sanitary equipment. Happy penguin dances all around. There was worrying about leftover food, but we pulled off the classic eat-and-run-to-the-counter technique with aplomb. We did get stalled at the Febreeze station though hahaha. Took a slow walk to Chinatown, hampered as we were with engorged stomachs. It was nice, walking past an opera show, a puppet show, and Chinatown nightlife while spontaneously erupting into sputtering snippets of Chinese haha and taking pictures of fortune cats like tourists. Good food, good company, good night.
Saturday, 22nd October: friendly with RP in the afternoon, which stretched into the evening. Rushed home and.. slacked. Haha. Maybe a couple of readings, I can't remember. Sunday: the day when stress proclaimed its loud arrival. Vacillating between the numerous assignments, so many things to do that I wasn't sure which to begin with. Did readings, but those didn't appear to be relevant to the tasks on-hand, so cue the strobe lights, as I panicked at the disco. Got a call from the kickboxing TIIG who loiters around void-decks, which cheered me up, so thank you. Yesterday was a good day for stress relief as well. Met up with Yaya and Yile for lunch in Utown, after eleven long weeks of planning haha. And the first thing we noticed about YL was how his head appeared to grow bigger/body smaller after those weeks HAHAHA. We spare no punches. Spotted Daniel S, and despite his best efforts to turn away, we had lunch together. Joking about the past, hearing about the present, worrying about the future, it was like a mini-reunion. DS left for tutorial, so Yaya, YL and I headed to the seminar rooms to 'study'. Conducted 2101 interview with YL, and it was interspersed with so much nonsense haha. Started preliminary research on YL's future biography, having settled on a title - YL: Heartbreaking or Heartbreaker? HAHAHA. Interest in learning Indian dance? Material for chapter twelve. Interest in muay thai? We got ourselves another chapter to chronicle his domination of Asia. Hahha. In all seriousness, it was an illuminating one hour. It is so interesting, learning about the lives others have led before yours had intersected with theirs. And I was heartened by how eleven weeks melted away just like that, as we rambled on and on, amusing ourselves with the adrenaline high from hopping between topical freight trains. Some things don't change, or not as quickly at least. For those simple pleasures, I am endlessly grateful for.
Headed to YIH after, to 'study'. Training after, which was tiringg but really helpful. Gotta note it all down soon. Headed home to recharge and finally start on some work. And today, 3101 lecture, home and umm. Nothing much else, I am ashamed to say. I can do this, I have to do this, I gotta do this. So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye~
