tudou.com has found a new worshipper in me. Out of the list of 24 films I want to watch, 10 cannot be found on any video-sharing site, 3 can be found on crunchyroll, 1 on ouou.com, another on youtube and a whopping 8 on tudou! It is fantastic, really. However, it saddens me that I cannot find Mysterious Skin and The King, the former starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt who was wonderful in Brick and the latter being driven by my favourite Gael Garcia Bernal. But it should be lurking somewhere so I'll sleuth around more. Meanwhile, to pass time while loading The History Boys, I shall post about my favourite seiyuus, voice actors. Hahaha, very bo liao, I know, but hey, it is the holidays after all. I only have 2 weeks left to savour it fully. So here goes:
A) ROMI PAKU
What can I say? Her voice is simply amazing. It is so rich and distinct. And she is pretty versatile, aceing both male and female roles, sometimes even both in the same show, like in Shion no Ou. There's a wild, rougish quality to her voice which I like alot. Like to the point that I started watching NANA because she was the lead role in it. Below are the characters I heard her play: Hitsugaya Toushirou in Bleach; Oosaki Nana in NANA; Edward Elric in Full Metal Alchemist; Ren Tao in Shaman King; Temari in Naruto; Saito Ayumi in Shion no Ou and Haraken in Dennou Coil.

B) AYA HIRANO
She is probably everyone's favourite seiyuu after doing work on Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, Death Note AND Lucky Star. But she is a very talented voice actress, possessing a large vocal range. And she can really bring a character to life and emote. Think the vigour in Haruhi, the sweetness in Misa and sleepiness in Konata. It helps that I like those 3 shows a whole lot too. I like her voice quality as well, it's very clear and though it's high-pitched, it's not sharp or piercing at all. What I heard: Izumi Konata in Lucky Star; Suzumiya Haruhi in Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu; Amane Misa in Death Note; Reira Serizawa in NANA; Nakajima Sanae in Sumomomo mo Momo mo.

C) SUGITA TOMOKAZU
I love love love this guy's voice! He does the disgruntled, resigned, exasperated etc tones very well. And there's a hint of laziness and what-the-heck-whatever in his voice as well, which make me laugh alot. But his voice can be surprisingly sensitive also, as seen by how well he played Mayama in Honey & Clover. He always fleshes out the character well, I think. I should start on Shuffle! and Yamato Nadeshiko man. Seen in: Sakata Gintoki in Gintama; Kyon in Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu; Alien Subordinate in Pani Poni Dash; Mayama Takumi in Honey & Clover.

D) NAKAI KAZUYA
This guy has one of the sexiest voice ever. His voice is so deep and rough that he doesn't speak, he growls. It doesn't hurt that he often plays brash badass characters. He has a really unique voice, with a 独特沙沙的味道 as well. One line, and you'd know it's him. He may not be the most versatile but he does an amazing job in kickass, tough love roles which I adore. Voice-acted as: Mugen in Samurai Champloo; Hijikata Toushirou in Gintama; Roronoa Zoro in One Piece; Kozou Etou in Nodame Cantabile.

E) KUGIMIYA RIE
Her voice is so adorable! She does best voice-acting as haughty, antagonistic, stubborn young girls, imbuing real displeasure and annoyance in their characters. I mean, you can imagine their obstinate pouts. Sugoku kawaii! But she has surprising range as well- she did Alphonse Elric in FMA and I didn't even realise until episode 20+! And the boyish Karin in Bleach too. Like all the other seiyuus I like, hearing her voice can conjure up vivid images of the character's mood and feelings. It makes them distinct, I feel. I'm so gonna watch Zero no Tsukaima for her. Seen as: Kagura in Gintama; Shakugan in Shakugan no Shana; Sanzenin Nagi in Hayate no Gotoku; Alphonse Elric in Full Metal Alchemist; Kurosaki Karin in Bleach; Sabato-chan in Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan.

Whoohoo, I am done with my list after 2 hours. Not a very comprehensive list but still, it encapsulates roughly what are the animes I like. Gosh, I'm such a dork. Found quite a animes to watch along the way. I realized that I hardly watched the classic shows such as Elfen Lied, Hellsing, Cowboy Bebop and Neon Genesis Evangelion but why oh why, do these must-watch animes involve mecha or sci-fi most of the time? It's not that bad when it comes to shounen or shoujo classics though. Aigoo, my lids are getting heavier by the second. It is 8.30am and it is time to sleep. Damn this slow computer. The History Boys isn't even half-done yet, grrr. Anyway, I shall soak in my "sore labour's bath" now. :D

Date: 2007-12-18 03:44 pm (UTC)Yeah, the quality is questionable but ah, I'm not picky. I'll have to save up for don't know how long otherwise. Tudou's quite fast actually, according to my friends. But the loading is so slow on my computer argh.
