"10 years of arduous training ah!"
Feb. 9th, 2008 11:36 amIt has been a long time since I last came online. Damn the crashed computer, damn my curiosity and my inclination to click on all sorts of links. Lesson learnt: Never trust anyone who pops up with a link on msn, although that person may be a close friend. Of course, to be fair, she didn't know her computer was infected with the virus so in the end, it all boils down to me and my itchy hand. Harumph. Every day in JC seems to be stuffed chockful with events and excitement that it's hard to keep track of what happened just the day before. And now, I will attempt recounting events from 10 days ago. Ha.
The only thing I vaguely recall about last Monday, the 28th of January, was lantern-making! And with class work, comes class discussions and the topic of the day was boys. HAHA. Naturally, the S11 guys stayed away and created their own circle pretty quicky. Lamented about the dearth of cute guys and gushed the few decent ones that caught our eyes. Grace is brilliant. She is, simply put, an information database. You could point out a person and she would churn out his/her name, class and similar info immediately, with ease. And this is especially great because Grace and I both think XXXXXX is cute haha. Yes, Monday was the birth of SIDEKICK! What a stupid name, right, but how fitting since he is part of Pumpkin's posse so SIDEKICK it is. Sidekicks are usually way cooler anyway. Oh then there is Sidekick 2, or more popularly, SK II HAHA, who is an older and upgraded version of Sidekick haha. They really do look alike, by the way. Then there is Clarice and her Taiwan Ah Seng haha, but that was coined only recently. Ah well, my memory is all jumbled up now.
Tuesday was lantern-making again and Genshiken. Wednesday draws a blank. Thursday was Venezia day, when Geraldine was speaking oh-so-matteroffactly while crawling under the table HAHAHA. Friday was Talentime day! And that was the day when Dilys became my shifu. We were on our way to the MOE Overseas Attachment talk when she pioneered the "ZOOOOT~~!" move. I still remember the scene vividly. We were walking up the steps towards the Sigma labs when her "ZOOOOOT~~!" left me amazed and breathless with laughter HAHAHA. Laughed till I cried and had difficulty breathing, especially after her "five long years of arduous training" comment HAHHAHAA. Of course, we straightened up by the time we arrived at the labs. Then Council information briefing. Then dinner at the Poolside place in HCI. Then Talentime, which was alright. What kept me laughing was Dilys's Beginner lessons on how to do the "ZOOOT~~!"- 1.5947812 cm, 1.78991367 cm and the like HAHA. Dilys is my cheek-poking, "ZOOOT~~" and "BZZZZ~!" shifu while I'm her "NOOOO." and eye-rolling shifu hahaha. She's plain nuts. :D
Saturday was Chingay and stayover at NTU. Chingay briefing was yet another series of boring lectures. Everything was "we'll inform you later" and "we'll confirm it again". Twas fun hanging out with Jia Liu, Fang Hui and Xiao Yun though. HE Xiao Yun HAHA. Later that day, rushed to NTU for Surf & Sweat 2008 and guess what, I was the first one there at 9.30pm. Yuhui then came to rescue me from loneliness about 15 minutes later and the rest (Dilys, Clarice, Jie Ling, Grace, Cheryl T, Mylene, Jonathan, Luther) only started streaming in 20 minutes past the meeting time of 10pm haha. So we listened to the briefing and got the singlet, which everyone exclaimed horror at. It was bright yellow, over-sized and simply a bad fit. Yeap, anyway, after all the admin, we headed to the hall to put our belongings. Once there, we started playing card games ie. Heart Attack, Bluff ie. making a hell of a racket which got us chased out of the hall. So, we proceeded to take a tour around NTU. Along the way, Grace and I morphed into Taoist priests and manja Korean girls amidst other weird personas. Never knew Grace could be so crazy heh. Walked around, talking crap and being high, and eventually reached the canteen, where we talked even more crap and got even higher. Then, we got sleepy at about 2+ and trudged back to the hall to sleep.
However, we did not manage to rest much as we had to haul ourselves up at 3.45am. Damn biathlons and their early starting times. It was funny to see everyone so listless in the morning though. Zombie army heh. Dilys tried to teach me the Advanced module of the Zoot but sadly, that did not work out favourably. Oh well.. Got sorted into our groups and got herded onto the back of a lorry after that. Wowee, that was fun heh. Was dropped off along with Mylene, Dilys, Yuhui and Jing Huai (whom I kept calling Jing Xian heh) at the road junction. 5 hours then sped past in a blur as we mass danced, twirled our red flags around and cheered the runners on. Among the memorable moments were making use of Japanese, holding a phone conference and seeing Audrey Lee(!). Had lunch after the first shift ended at about 1pm and froze our butts off for the rest of the time as the sky opened up and poured sheets and sheets of rain. Some bright spark at NTU thought that he could prevent rain by tailoring the jersey for sunny weather. But it wasn't that bad as we sat around and played games as a group. Eventually, the second part of Surf & Sweat was cancelled and we went home early, with a heavy goodie bag in tow. HAHA poncho sharing with Grace! I was spent after all that, so left after eating dinner with the class at Vivo.
Phew, that's one week down. Now for CNY week, which wasn't anything much really. CNY celebrations on Wednesday was uh okay. Took part in the paper-cutting competition along with Jie Ling, Clarice and Dilys. Our end product wasn't great but well, we had fun. Ah Heng + Ah Seng~ Hahaha. Met up with Tiffany later and she was plain drunk man. Hahaha. Ran into so many SC people that day. Juliana, Xui Hui, Jia En (with Fushang and Elissa), Grace (with Rachel), Estelle and ecetera. Nice seeing them again heh.
Then CNY, which was same old, same old. Went to bai nian with Jia, Tiff and Grace. It was wonderful to talk to them again. For some odd reason, we all had to wear a dress harumph. So first, my house (=food), then Jia's (=Korean snippets), then Tiff's (=Korean songs+dance HAHA TELL ME)and Grace's (=Scrabble+more food). Met up with my sister later that day and watched CJ7. My first movie/film in ages. I feel so uncultured ever since I started JC. It was not bad- funny, sweet and touching though the ending was abrupt and jarring. The child actress was absolutely adorable and she made the show winsome. Stephen Chow humour is teh best as well heh.
That roughly sums up the 10 days. Missed out on alot of things but ah heck. I really want to watch Juno, Away From Her and No Country for Old Men but I can't seem to find the time. Nevertheless, I like my life now, yeah. Anyway, till next time then.
