The holidays are here, whoopee. The temporary reprieve, a toilet break on the five-hour roadtrip to Malacca, complete with fork&spoon signboard, the roadside shrines that conveniently materialise when it starts pouring and torrenting. Sorry for the bad habit of rambling. There weren't many chances to let my mind free to wander aimlessly during the past week. Every day whooshed past like a senseless, tangled helix of a hurricane- lessons!, friends!, soccer!, homework!, enthu!, laughs!, conversations!. All I did was to drift along with the flow of things. That's not necessarily a bad thing- I did have wowee fun being tossed around in the updrafts and downsurges of currents. It's just that there wasn't much time to lie back, watch the blue sky patterned with brown grilles, listen to Beth Orton's "Comfort of Strangers", KT Tunstall's "Paper Aeroplane" & the like, and just think. About (cliche alert ahem) the meaning of life; the value of friends; the blessings I find in my family; the foreign thing called love that has the majority of humans in a tizzy; and miscellaneous topics that happen to drift into my head ie. why I take a fervent interest in the American presidential election, yet don't give about a damn about the Malaysian one. It's these little bo liao things that make me miss the quiet, peaceful life of SCGS. Socrates once said "an unexamined life is not worth living" and I agree with that. I don't want to be an ignorant, self-unaware bamboon. Nope, that wouldn't be nice at all. So yeah, whoopee for the holidays.

Yup the week was fine in general. Char kway teow ah~, chao guo tiao in that low lecherous tikopek voice, complete with arm flapping and head shaking HAHA; "Dilys!" "What?" "Nothing. Hahahahha." complete with Mmsharlakalahala savannah, global warming & bushfires and magical putoutthefire dances; "You realise right, if I don't move, you can't move either."- crappiness is a daily affair with Dilys (Bilys!) around. PW Group- Dilys, Melinda, Audrey Ho and Clarice. We would never be able to get things done. But thank goodness for this group anyway.

Monday was well, the start of the long long week. Nothing specially worth noting there. Tuesday was soccer and the dinner at KAP afterwards, which was a noisy, exclamation-mark-loaded, shrill gabfest. That usually results when you put 10 loud girls together, ain't it. Going "OHHH YAH, THAT ONE" at things we don't have the slightest clue about, squealing about famous (cute?) footballers, gossiping about various people, high-fiving after finding a similar interest in neopets and Dynasty Warriors and such. (I look like a NYGH girl!?) Yeap, it was a funfunfun day, draining but yeah, great.

Wednesday was not such a great day, however. It was STaR aptitude test day. Skipped about half of the Math questions, felt quite confident about the Chemistry and Biology parts BUT BUT BUT, realised that I shaded the wrong area for ALL the Biology questions after the test ended. Goodbye chance to visit Japan, not that I ever stood a chance against the other brilliant scientific minds anyway. I tend to overestimate my abilities, damn it.

Thursday was another day with soccer girls. Went to Queensway to purchase our gear. Emily was unstoppable with her "I SAW MAS SELAMAT" jokes. We spent 3 and a half hours deliberating about what boots, what shin guards and what socks to buy. It was a tedious affair because we were just looking out for pretty designs. Try fitting that with a small budget and hard-to-find shoe sizes, and you'd get 10, 12 people pulling their hair out in a frenzy heh. But it was fun, yet again. Deliberating and dilemma-ing, walking around the centre together, talking and stressing at the same time. I really like the people in NJ soccer girls, especially the J1s. We've only known each other for a short time but I feel that we've bonded somewhat. We are serious about soccer, we are willing to train extra hard to improve, we are a team, we are together. There was a semblance of unity in SC Netball, yes, but I can sense the dedication and commitment that we are willing to put into this team. And this really heartens me. "We're all in this together", how cringe-worthy this is, using a mass-manufactured Disney pop song title to sum it up. But the sentiment is true. :) Heh. Emily, Yi Tong and I got all excited about our Transformers-esque shin guards. They are SHINY, POLISHED and METALLIC, uber uber cool. I feel like I can blast off the ground any minute with them and shoot rockets out of the Nike insignia. Power Rangers, TRANSFORM, WHOOOOOSH! Comic book superheroes, hell yeah. Walked around looking for a team bag before cabbing back with Grace Tay and Emily heh. Kaya waffles are lurveeee. :D

Friday was 4 free periods day plus soccer and band concert. And what did we do in 4 free periods? Slack it away by playing captain's ball with 08S04, doing mass dances at the track and just stoning&talking at the stands. S04 is really an amusing class. The guys there are jokers seriously. Headers, squat-throws, girly squeals and whatnot haha. Their class is really bonded as well, how cool. S11 is not bad but ah, lately there's been something missing, the cog that turns the gears. Clarice squealed at her Genki Guy but got depressed after seeing him in a couple outfit. I squealed (internally) when Sidekick walked into the bookshop. Yuhui went to ask his friend to go play Captain's Ball but of course, he was too cool (for school) and didn't turn up till much later to sit with the basketballers. Sidenote: Cowboy has a nice smile and laugh. :D Soccer was quite a letdown as we had looked forward to wearing our newly-purchased gear but were instead, shunted to the carpark. Okay, NJSG may suck at the game but that doesn't mean we should be ignored and be deprived the chance to use the proper facilities. I hope that the J2s would be warmer towards us as well. It was a tiring training on the whole so I quite happily skipped the 4-round cooldown for band concert. You know the feeling when the atmosphere, the music, the scene is so beautiful that it raises the hair on your skin, makes you cringe at the perfection of it all and makes you hope that that moment would be suspended for eterne? Yeah, I got that alot during the Studio Ghibli songs. The concert ended soon enough- after 1 hour- so Mylene, Jonathan, Dilys, Clarice and I headed to Junction 8 for lunch. Ran into Yunhui there, WWIII! Sat and talked at Subway for perhaps an hour. The night felt just nice.

Saturday was well, SKY OF LOVE with Jia En and Tiffany. It was a sad, soppy, melodramatic movie that's not half as bad as it sounds hahaha. True, the plot was quite weak, not to mention morally questionable (underage sex, rape, bullying, truancy etc) and the pacing was chopped up, but the story was believable thanks to the leads. The plot twists was kinda contrived at parts and overly dramatic but well, the emotions were there. The scene towards the end where he broke down, saying that he didn't want to die, moved me as did the many pictures he took of her. But argh, what about Takahara! How can she ditch him aside so easily? 2 years of affections only amounted to a 5 minute hesitation, after which he was never mentioned again. But yeah whatever, it's a typical chickflick tearjerker so I won't say more. It was wonderful to talk to Jia again after so long, by the way. Heh.

Watched The 40 Year Old Virgin yesterday too. It was hella funny. And sweet and touching. Steve Carrell has officially cornered the market for adorkable loser roles.

That should be long enough. Ahhhh, I have so many things to catch up on. Shion no Ou, Persona, Gintama, Hayate no Gotoku, Bamboo Blade, Clannad and I hope to start Honey & Clover (Ikuta Toma!) as well. But all I really want to do now is to snuggle up in bed, pillow on my lap, laptop on my pillow and watch a good film like Me You & Everyone We Know all over again. How I miss the days of yore. Till another time then, terra.
