time for the final bow
Jul. 1st, 2008 11:31 pmIt has been a few days since I disappeared under the radar. Oh, it has been bliss. Waking up at wee hours of the morning, sleeping when the sun is all-blazes and all-fiery, so much & so little to do with all the time in the world. I love the feeling of having an empty schedule. There were piles of homework waiting to be done but heck, that can always come in later. Oh and the endless social engagements. True, they grew wearisome soon enough but, it is always nice to see friends. Even if it meant less time to recharge and reflect though, nobody needs to know. I get by well enough. And here's how:
Friday was SYF Opening Ceremony Ushering day. Oh, it was a surprisingly fun time. The bus ride there was a somewhat illegal gathering of bridge buddies Huishan and Eugene aha. Then, the gossip, the chatting with Dian Feng, Yann Qi and Huishan and the subsequent VIP ushering. I am learning more by the day. How to be at ease with myself, that is. The small talk, the genial chit-chat, the polite greetings, it should be better now. It was all about walking up and down rows of steps, "this way please", "please follow me", orange stickers, neon yellow, bruised purples and fighting to usher guests, hoho. Blistered and battered. Finally, a rest where upon, we embarrassed ourselves with hotpink flags and excited jabbering. Then the illegal gathering of bridge buddies again, this time with Kok Leong, in the marbled shower of the dressing room HAHA. We were each squatting in one corner, hurrying each other impatiently like loansharks hollering people to O$P$. The rush and shove to get out was hilarious HAHA. Supper followed, as did Zinger. More bridge then home. It was a pretty good day.
Saturday was Annual General Meeting (AGM) day. There was nothing particularly memorable about it. Perhaps, the "Ideas outing" HAHA which fell through because of guilty consciences. And oh, it was a good hair day. Whizzed past work plans and hurtled through goals and targets. An impromptu TDC meeting was lined up after hierachy photo-taking, then clean up, where I hit upon a novel idea which I simply can't stop boasting about. Damn cool, yuh. Yakked, yakked with Jade on the way out. Then Golden Rooster and more cards and home. There were incidents which made me laugh hard but for now, I draw a blank. Told you the day was unremarkable.
Sunday was good food day. Mouth Restaurant (Peking Duck!) and Swensens for dessert. Debilitating for both the wallet and stomach but heck. Food iz good. I live to eat. 'Nuff said.
Then came yesterday, class outing day whee. It was more like a clique outing but let's not fuss over the specifics. S11 people make me laugh uncontrollably, inexplicably. With them, soccer girls and old friends, can I ask for anything more? Headed to Sentosa after feasting on greyvine rumours (quite a clever pun, you must say) and Carl's Junior. Then whee hee, photo-taking spree. You didn't have any other choice other than participate. Dilys' nostrils, the failed attempts at model behaviour, loitering in the swimwear shop, random prancing around. Bridge, water play, screamy frisbee, bluff, basically. Back to Vivo in the evening where Grace and the rest started skidding around on the shiny polished floor. Embarrassing but real funny haha. Ikea was next, after more greyvine rumour exchanges with Grace on 855, for TDC. Then, getting the seniors' presents, which were a hot fuss over nothing. Then, home. I love home. :)
Today, well. Started off as an average day, ended as a pretty good day. Swamped with work but I really couldn't care less. Slept through double period Bio and that was the turning point. Went high high into the sky in Chem, in PE (frisbee whee!) and soccer pubstunt discussion. If it weren't for a thick hide and a (seemingly) uncaring attitude, I would have long shrivelled from embarrassment. But it made people laugh, so it's cool. There's nothing better than hearing the trills of laughter from friends. We were all pretty high as well, I guess. Leena is a fun person to throw challenges, dares andd smacks at hahaha. It was funfunny time. Played some ball afterwards and that wrapped up a good day.
So those were my days. Happy, peaceful. A far cry from the newspapers nowadays. Food prices escalating, devastating floods, violent riots over beef and a covered-up murder, government foul-ups of pension records, landslide losses for a ruling party. It's a chaotic mad mess out there. And here I am, untouched in my own bubble of education, familial relations, friendships and material comforts. I should be happy. I am happy. It's just the thought of when I would break the filmy surface gnawing at me. Remember that we must leave. I will have to leave, want to leave someday. But for now, there's all the time in the world.
