from zero to hero

Slowly but surely, you see these messages popping up all over the place. Facebook display status, MSN personal messages, blog posts and every nook and cranny of cyberspace: "PW is done", "xxx is relieved that OP is over" and pledges to delete all PW-related documents off the face of this Earth. At last, we are absolved from this terrible chore of Project Work, the task that has weighed down on us for the past 9, 10 months. Sure, nobody died, no houses got blown off, no chimneys torn off, but I'm just glad to see the last of Glenn Lim's face. Good bye to you, your "father, who was a man of few words", your "mother, who now listens more than she talks", your "quintessential values", your changing from a "selfish individual to a selfless man". But, thanks for all the learning points; all the soon-sepia memories of vacant hours spent in front of Powerpoint slides; all the laughs while slaving over a 40-paged Written Report; all the skiving off on Pet Society, onigokko episodes (important research material!!), spazzing over Koyama-kun, facebook stalking and other things five teenaged girls get up to in an enclosed area; it was an interesting "Journey". :) But it dragged on long enough, so kthanxbaiii~~
And the day that marked the start of the end was Tuesday, which also happened to be Audrey's birthday. The day before that, we went on a little journey of our own, visiting Changi airport. Popeyes for lunch- pop the eyes and squeeze the juice HAHA. I tend to indulge in gory imagery, much to Dilys's horror. Then, nestled in a cosy corner of the viewing gallery, we hiked our way through six run-throughs of ohpee. When that was done, it was time for dinner! Ahaha, we like our breaks early and frequent. Sakae Sushi, where Elvin, Mylene, Grace and Yuhui joined us later. The angmoh chye tao kuei (carrot cake) was then brought out for burfdae gurl Audrey. I miss seeing the other S11 people. It feels best when we are gathered around, laughing, nudging someone about Pineapple, 'ahsoh'ing about eyelets, cooing over good online deals and ecetera at the top of our voices. :) Lublubxxx.
Then, there was OP day itself. It went pretty alright. Went hands-free and managed to spew out most of the script without hitches. Q&A went less smoothly but heck, it is too late too worry about that. The most important point is that PROJECT WORK IS OVER. Done. Nada. Zilch. Had lunch with 090 at HCI then, home sweet home. Rather anti-climatic, yes, but I like my life fuss-free. :)
It must have been the combination of the rainy weather and the completion of PW that made yesterday seem so perfect. Rain started pelting down after I got onto the half-empty bus. The air was cool, there was a quiet murmur aboard, rivulets of raindrops competed in their equivalent of the 100m dash, romance was in the air. No kidding, you could just imagine the rose vines and honeysuckle brambles sprouting out at every corner of the frame, as fragrant petals drifted leisurely in the background and as nimble fingers plucked the steely harp chords. Overly flowery, I know, but it felt like that. Then, I overslept. And awoke at the interchange. In the rain. Way to burst the dreamy bubble. So, I trudged to Popular and purchased the Chemistry Drill Questions book, how very romantic, isn't it? Surprisingly, the feeling returned after the 6km run around Chinese Garden. I saw a dragonfly and smiled as it soared towards the batik-dyed sky, minute wings flapping fervently with life and vigour. Then, a whole swarm congregated overhead. And hovered. Once again, the bubble was burst but it was funny. Building up all these castles in the air to have it crumble with a wisp of breath, an oxygen-poor one at that. Spinning these fairytales before sunrise, to have drowned by the morning dew. My imagination is going to be undoing, someday.
But, there was some inspiration after watching Amélie today. I can't believe I didn't watch it earlier. However, it is the wrong place and wrong time to ramble about it now. Maybe tomorrow. Till then.
