Because I need to do something drastic to wake myself up, I'm going on a one-week break from facebook, livejounal, blogs, youtube and other fun online stuff. Wish me luck.

Take cues from this, Jay Chou, and serve up some real Oriental-infused ballads. I think I just found my latest favourite band. Them, and goodmorningloria. I love finding new songs heh. Anyway, this week has been training, training, training yet again. Plenty of field though, rejoice! But, as always, there's much to learn, much to improve on, much to be depressed about. Especially today, when we trained with the guys. It's daunting and hella exasperating, but that's how it goes, ain't it. Gotta suffer before it gets better, get drenched by the storm before finding that pot of gold, ecetera. That doesn't make the blue funk any thinner though. I need a tic-tac-toe wish right about now. That, and time, time, more time! Dear homework, just die, please. In the meantime, read up, learn, watch, train, absorb! NOW. On another note, I cannot wait to watch Nick & Norah and Twilight. I will finally talk to more than 6 people next week HAHA. Till another time.

Hopelessly superficial, and I regret.
That seems to be the only thing I am doing nowadays.
That, and denying the existence of homework. For once the ink is laid down to paper, everything becomes real once more. The days suspended in motion, like curlicues of vowels in a fountain-pen finish, the hours crystallised and the feelings fossilised, they will all crumble and disintegrate. Ash remnants of flaky incense sticks.
Then, the relentless, joyless, lyfeless slog resumes once more.
Oh. No.

It has been a while since I last read such a gripping book. Cold Comfort Farm was aw-shucks alright, the perfectly malleable stop-gap activity sandwiched between other more meaningful activities. The first short story of Nobody Belongs Here More Than You was meh-okay. Perhaps, it is her light style of writing, but I couldn't pick up much significance of the characters. Maybe it is meant as an allegory of modern life- using small everyday occurrences to underscore the complexity of human existence or some shit, I can't be bothered to care enough. In the near future, when I have more time probbaly. Yeah anyway, the book that has held hours of my waken consciousness captive, arrested my imagination in a vice-like grip, blah blah blah, is Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. The language is haunting- the words sear your eyelids with burnished descriptions, the nouns&adjectives&etc contort and leap around like trapeze artistes in glittery spandex, flashy but comprehensible, leaving one on one's feet hollering for an encore-, the humour black and laughter low, rumbly and under-the-breath, and the main theme debate-inciting, reflection-inducing. Yea, I'm not too good at descriptions, but read it if you can. Have yet to finish it myself but I definitely will, soon.

So I sat for SATs )

Over the past week, I watched a few movies. Bolt was a barrel of laughs and a whole lotta heart. I have a soft spot for Pixar animations, you see. Wall-E, The Incredibles, Nemo, Monsters Inc. are among my favourite animated features. The faaaat hamster was kawaii x 1000 (!), the pigeons were a scream ("it's gonna be huuuge" *cue neck-rolling*, awkward jingles of the head and vacant stares) and I loved Mitten's voice and street smarts. Good fun, everyone. Watched Superbad as well and man, it was Superfunny. Totally lovin' Mclovin'! Michael Cera's shy geek schtick made my heart burst into cupid-shaped pyrotechnics, Jonah and Evan's friendship was so schweeet and the cops were classic fratboys. There were many lol! rofl! lmao! moments, simply put. Heehee! Lastly, The Girl Next Door. It was okay, some funny bits, some boring bits. I'm a new fan of Emile Hirsch and Paul Dano. :D

Ah, speaking of movies, the next few months seem like a bumper crop of good ones. Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, Milk, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon, annd like Ash, I wanna catch em all~ Outside of theatres, there are also L.I.E., The King, There Will Be Blood, Lords of Dogtown and The Emperor's Club too. Let's see how it goes. Till then!
