There is only about one hour left of 2008. It has been a heck of a ride.

2008 in 5 minutes )

Because it is hard to encapsulate the essence of a year lived in short paragraphs, I shall stop attempting to do so. After all, I have over 120 posts to fall back on, should my memory malfunction at some point. Besides, facing forward should be the way to go from here on. Resolutions: #1 actually do homework and study, damnit; #2 stick to my guns and articulate; #3 believe in belief. Ten minutes before the grand old dame is out the door. Till another time then, and have a happy new year! :)

For the first time in ages, I can stay at home the whole day, no obligations, no fuss, no dragging of the unwilling body out of bed. Tomorrow is also the last day of 2008, this fact I belatedly realised during the last OGL camp debrief. I'm still not ready to let go and embrace the new year though. For now, there is much to think about and much homework to wade through. More about the camp next time. :)

Oh, let's get rich and buy our parents homes in the South of France
let's get rich and give everybody nice sweaters
and teach them how to dance
let's get rich and build our house on a mountain
making everybody look like ants
from way up there, you and I, you and I

It has been an eventful few days. Christmas was not that much fun though. But it was never a big deal in the first place, so it did not bother me very much. I watched Australia with my sister that day. It is rare to catch a sweeping epic love story in the present day. Tragedy, romance, sacrifice, villains, these conventional plot markers were included and capitalised on to the max. Nulla was captivating, Drover embodied rougish charm and Fletcher was the worst type of villain ever- the calculative businessman, where money meant everything and who could be counted upon to do anything and everything for profits and power. Add the lush landscapes, big budget for special effects and whizzbangings, exoticism, heavyweight acting and you got a pretty dang good show. The real fun started after Christmas though.

Hello, the SAT scores are in. Disappointing with a red capital D. They are neither exceptionally good nor horrendously bad. 700 for reading, 660 for writing and a fricking 630 for maths. I am a disgrace to the Singaporean education system, (in)famous for its rigour in formulas and emphasis on practice. But, this was to be expected. What good could possibly arise from three days' of preparation? No genius after all. I'm such a fool and a wastrel because, I'll have to retake it all over again now.

we are monsters. )

Last one: Twilight was alright. Bella was beautiful, Edward was hot, and they kept staring poetically into each other's eyes. That was the gist of it. Oh right, one must remember to add corn-cheese lines, cluttered action scenes and over-used plots to the mix. I really don't understand the hype and the hoopla. But, Bella WAS beautiful and Edward WAS hot, so yeah, I'm shallow lyke dat. Before and after movie: NJ 090 wahoo! Haven't seen them in such a long time. An idiot kept attempting to stuff a $10 note into my bag though HAHA. Nothing escapes zee eyes of a ninjaa! Hehe, I cannot wait to carry the new team bag. But before that, cards to write and envelopes to mail so bon nuit!

Okay, so maybe this whole hiatus thing isn't panning out very well. But I did start on some homework during the two-day self-imposed ban so, it was not a total waste of effort. It is just that these days have been too fun. What with the Singapore-vs-Vietnam match yesterday with ma fave six, filled with lion dance routines and Leena's select choice of French swear words; training then meeting up with Jia, Rachel, Grace and Tiffany for Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist (which I loved x10), Coffee Bean and shopping for quirky cute things - note, Jia's priorities are our priorities haha-; tomorrow's game (!!) and Twilight with PW group and more stuff later in the week. Action-packed, fun-stuffed, just the way I like it. And to be honest, homework did not turn out to be the life-sucker I had imagined. We would just have to see how the chips fall then.
